Longtime Texas Tech football announcer Curtis Parrish is stepping down after 24 years in the booth.
Parrish announced his retirement in a statement released by the university on Monday.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the voice of Texas Tech football for the past 24 years," Parrish said. "I have been blessed to work with some of the best coaches, players, and fans in the country. I will always cherish the memories I have made during my time in Lubbock."
Parrish began his career at Texas Tech in 1998. He quickly became a fan favorite with his enthusiastic calls and his deep knowledge of the game.
Parrish was the voice of some of the most memorable moments in Texas Tech football history, including the Red Raiders' 2008 Cotton Bowl victory over Mississippi.
He also called Texas Tech's 2010 Alamo Bowl win over Michigan State and the Red Raiders' 2013 Holiday Bowl victory over Arizona State.
Parrish's retirement is a major loss for Texas Tech football. He was one of the most recognizable voices in the sport and he will be missed by fans.
Texas Tech has not yet announced a replacement for Parrish.
